Active Steps

Active Steps aims to support people living in South West Edinburgh to become more physically active & maintain a healthy diet in the long term. We will help you to make small changes in your everyday routines that will set you on track for a healthier lifestyle. Activities are run outdoors and indoors in easily accessible venues.

Who can benefit?

Being more active and eating a healthier diet is a positive step for everyone and we know that these are behaviours that also have a positive impact on mental well being. However your GP is likely to refer you to our services if you require help with any of the following:

  • Weight management

  • Type 2 Diabetes

  • One or more long term conditions: COPD; Hypertension (High Blood Pressure); Arthritis.

Our activities are suitable for all levels of fitness regardless of your health and well being. The process starts with an initial one to one chat to explore your individual health needs. Then you may be registered for one of our services or another service in Edinburgh – depending on what’s best for you and your current situation.

Activities (these change from time to time, please refer to the ‘What’s On’ for current groups and classes):

  • A range of exercise classes for all levels of ability designed to get you active in a safe, fun and engaging way

  • Supported access to local leisure facilities

  • One to one and group support to help you make small, manageable changes for a healthier lifestyle.

  • Walking Groups - small, friendly groups for all abilities

Be Active

You can also benefit from supported low cost access to local facilities for gym, swim and fitness classes with our Be Active voucher scheme. Vouchers can be used at : Edinburgh Leisure; Wester Hailes Education Centre & Napier University (Engage).

How do I access Active Steps?

You don't need to be referred by a GP or anyone else, but your GP, or another health professional may suggest that you come along and they may wish to work with us to monitor your progress (if you are agreeable). You must register with Health All Round before attending any group. Contact Louise...
